BENJAMIN BAILE
Originally from France, Benjamin Baile has lived in Japan for over twenty years and has been photographing since 2010.
His primary tools are rangefinder cameras and 35mm black-and-white film, though certain projects incorporate digital cameras, disposable cameras, and smartphones.
His work is rooted in observation, repetition, and the visual rhythms of everyday life.
This website presents a rotating selection from his ongoing body of work, with nine images shown from each project. The selection is updated regularly.
Across these works, he documents scenes, social interactions, recurring behaviors, and overlooked details of everyday life before they shift or disappear. Each project is shaped by a distinct set of constraints that informs how the images are made.
Selected works from the archive are available for exhibitions and collaborations. For inquiries or further information about the projects, please get in touch through the contact form.
